Did you just accidentally install and older version of Jom Comment on your site and suddenly the site doesn't work anymore? Not even the administrator backend, so you can't uninstall it?

Does it say:

"Direct Access to this location is not allowed."

Have no fear. You won't need to re-install Joomla. It's easy to remove/uninstall Jom Comment manually.

All you have to do is delete the directory:

/components/com_jomcomment/

and remove the files:

/system/jom_commentsys_bot.xml
/system/jom_commentsys_bot.php

Now Jom Comment is gone. You will no longer get the error "Direct Access to this location is not allowed." and you can log in to the back end again.

It will still say that Jom Comment is installed, but now you can uninstall Jom Comment the usual way to get rid of any remaining references to it.

thank you so much friends. i assume your fix is going to work for me, but can you please tell this 'joomla neophyte' where exactly to locate /system/jom_commentsys_bot.xml & /system/jom_commentsys_bot.php? i have looked everywhere in my database but still con not locate them.

it's probably another stupid question of mine but i'm learning so i really appreciate your help.
