How to turn off the black outline or highlight around icons and text in Mac OS X:
If you black outlines or highlights around anything you select in Mac OS X (tiger, leopard,snow leopard) you probably turned on “Voiceover” accidently.
To turn it off, press command + F5 (Apple + F5)
You can also turn of the black outline/highlights in OS X from “VoiceOver” under the Universal Access tab in System Preferences.
